Barristers Issue Statement on Further Fulham FC Article

Justice for Harrods Survivors – the barristers Dean Armstrong KC, Bruce Drummond, and Maria Mulla – today released the following statement in response to a story in The Athletic:

“When Ronnie Gibbons reached out to Maria Mulla on September 21, she relayed how she, too, had suffered abuse at the hands of Mohamed Al Fayed, the former owner of Fulham Football Club. Ronnie was particularly upset at remarks by former Fulham manager Gaute Haugenes, who claimed the club had ‘protected’ the players. Over the subsequent weekend this led to sensitive conversations about another individual at the club. Maria and Ronnie began investigating the abuse, which led them onto Deena and Claire.

“Together, Justice for Harrods Survivors and their clients approached Laura Williamson and David Ornstein at The Athletic to bring their story to the world. The barristers will now be continuing their investigations over the coming days and weeks.

“If anyone reading the story has been similarly impacted, whether at Fulham or in any other sporting environment, they can speak to the barristers via www.fulhamfcsurvivors.com or www.harrodssurvivors.com, or call us on +44 (0)203 468 0493 where they will also be able to access services and support.”
